Hp wants to sell me overpriced shit.
Anyways....

When I turn on my computer it says "Windows Starting" for like 5 minutes than it says "Windows failed to start, press enter to go to repair." Then the repair page wont even load. Safe mode wont work either, nothings working. So I ran a thing called HP diagnostic check by pressing f12 when I turn my PC on.... The check said I have a hard drive error.

What do I do here? Im getting really frustrated. Also if I end up buying a new hard drive, will I also need to buy windows 7 again? What about all my old data?

Sorry for all the questions, help is appreciated.

If its a drive error, then it could be a connection problem. Make sure there are no splits or anything. Wires could have corroded or something. Did something come unplugged?

Also, was there an error code?

replace the hard drive, datas gone, youll need to reinstall windows but not repurchase

Sounds like a dead hard drive. Getting any clicking sounds, or etc? Should run a live CD of Linux to verify it's the hard drive. If it doesn't work, could just be a cable. So check your cables and make sure they're in firmly.

If not. Then it's Windows.

Unconnect and reconnect the smaller wire going to your HDD, then try booting up. Sounds like a connection problem.

You might be able to get the data off the hdd with a livedisc and some external hdd.
