hey /g/, for you linux users who have your dotfiles under version control (like github), do you place your configs in a separate folder in the home dir and sym link them the dotfiles to them?

This may sound OCPD, but I was just debating whether I should call this folder ~/configs, or ~/etc (btw I'd prefer having them visible - I'm not trying to hide them).
