windows update just nearly cripped my PC with something that made it run REALLY fucking slow. Restored to half an hour ago, and it's fine, with only a MSSE update pending (non-essential)

We aren't all retarded like you OP. I've updated every single time Windows 7 has prompted me.

It's running as fast as the day I installed it. Some people can actually maintain their computers.

Who doesn't set updates to manual? Your computer shouldn't do something until you explicitly tell it to.
