been there bought the t-shirt. use a fucking hw card they cost £150 maybe for a good one. a fraction of your disk costs.

c) it wont fuck up. you will get a refund if it does that will be backwards compat if the worst comes to the worst in 10 years time.

Note, SW raid will fuck up you have NO other option if you insist on raid 5.

get 3xrocketraid for £300 they do raid 5. dunno what the external equivalent of the 2640 is i'll have a google for you

2644 is the external one i think. it's £360 for 3 of them. if you are poorfag get the internal and run the cables outside the box i've done shit like that before with sata/esata maybe you can do it with sas.

i do actually.
i remember struggling to get hold of the drivers i wanted i THINK it may have been centos but i'm not 100% maybe debian. check before hand.
the card worked fine.
but that said i prefer adaptecs since i have more experience... i know a lot of people who rave on about lsi and tbh they do seem better from what i've read.
if you aint poor you know you can maybe do some sort of 8 * 3 setup.
