Hey /g/, my friend asked me to fix his computer for him, but I'm up against a wall here. The specs are:
HP Pavilion a1530n desktop
Windows XP
2.8GHz Pentium D
1GB DDR2 ram
500 GB Hitachi HDD
It boots, but after the HP splash screen, it goes black with a blinking horizontal cursor in the top left. I tried using Recovery Console from a Windows XP cd, but it can't find his windows installation or the hard drive, so chkdsk or anything else on there doesn't work.
I can boot with Knoppix from a cd and that works fine, and the Hitachi mounts automatically and i can see all his files from there.
Thoughts?
