>>17270623>he doesn't walk or bike anywhere>he carries around a giant bag that does nothing but add extra size to his already fuckhuge laptop>he never travels where the size of equipment is importantFuck's sake, it's not about ability to carry it. I and virtually anyone could carry around a giant 17" beast, or even an old integrated CRT Mac desktop. It's about simplicity and elegance in doing so, the ease and fluidity. It's bulky- more awkward to carry and balance, more noticeable (and besides aesthetics, that means it's more likely to get stolen), just more to deal with.
Plus, the same thing comes in on a table at a coffeeshop, at a bar, or even on a desk: more space for the laptop means less space for everything else and a more obtrusive profile.
Plus, they cost more, for no reason. You don't get a better screen, just a bigger one. I can maybe see graphic designers buying them for customer presentations despite that, and maybe for working on production sets, although I'd argue the latter would be better served with a 20-something inch monitor with a VESA-mounted Mini ITX box on the back.
