If you OC your CPU, don't forget to turn up the voltage, otherwise it shall be unstable. Turning up the voltage brings more heat (I believe around 10% of the power that actually goes into the CPU is actually used, the rest is heat), this is why you want adequate cooling along with it.
You have to be careful with your FSB, changing it here can change it there because a lot of it scales, so be CAREFUL. Always keep a close watch on ALL temps.
There's a lot of shit to learn, and a lot of guides are discouraging because of the amount of information you have to take it, but trust me, in the end it's worth it.
Also, GOLDEN RULE: if you can't afford to replace, you shouldn't be doing the shit.
Another thing, if the voltage on your CPU is on auto (and you didn't set it up yourself), then you shouldn't be trying to OC either. If it still is, then I recommend getting more experience on hardware, THEN OCing.
