I'd like to have a look around the local network

in particular I'd like to find a particular machine that has a fuckload of movies, etc on it which I don't know the ip of

but mostly I'm just curious

now, it seems the way of doing such things is nmap
but, I confess, I'm retarded

any help /g/?
