what's up /g/angsters

I'm wanting to man up and get a proper sound system set up. Questions:

- Do I need an equally boss soundcard AND amplifier?
- Digital or is analogue ok?

Best advice that no one will tell you:

1. Speakers first. Fuck what anyone else says.
2. Your primary concern for amplification should be powering the speakers, not making them better/louder.

God tier speakers from mediocre source + amp > Good speakers, amp and dac > Any speaker from garbage (and i mean garbage)

This. KEF are good. But at the same time don't waste them by connecting them to a crappy receiver through onboard analogue sound output.

i have an old technics amp that served me well until it stopped working , i think i'll get it fixed and buy something like:

and then run it straight from my internal soundcard -> amp and see how that goes

If you want this for a Home Theatre, then you run HDMI/Optical SPDIF to the receiver.

If this is for music, then you run Optical SPDIF to a headphone DAC/Amp.

Soundcards are mostly outdated technology.
