Is there a need of Programmers in the IT industry with knowledge/certificates of C++ language competence?
The way I think, is that theres so many people researching what programming language to learn and universally picking C++ is that in the near future (5 years or so) the world will be packed with programmers and it would be impossible to get anywhere with your C++ am i right??

-What does /g/ think? is it easy to find a job having a certificate for C++

I agree with you to some extent. I'd just add, that it's not so much the language you use, but what you can do with it, that counts. Just pick one that's generally accepted.

Yes.

You could say that about any profession. There are too many doctors, too many police, too many whatever. Programmers will always be in demand especially as technology continues to improve and expand. Not everyone decides to become a programmer. So don't worry. The job market is fine for the foreseeable future.

this. you need to understand the theory or "idea" behind programming, algorithm design and optimized coding techniques that don't rely on the compiler optimizing it for you, that's what will get you a job, not your narrow ability to code one language good enough to pass a few tests

You pick the language for the job. Most programmers know 4-10 languages. Its a plus if youre familiar with different paradigms and platforms. I myself do not like C++, as for the jobs where i need the performance i prefer C over C++ simply because its a lot simpler language and there is alot less bs about coding style and what to do/ not to do. Also its easier to optimize C code for any specific task in my opinion. That being said, i only use C for graphics programming or other performance critical tasks.

If you dont know what language to learn, learn something simple because most likely you will only be able to do simple tasks. Start off with something dynamicly typed then shift to static typic then go to a whole different paradigm or other platform before returning to your preferance for a given job.

This is generally true. A competent programmer can make good use of any language.

That said, the rising popularity of mobile applications has somewhat lead to an influx of demand for programmers who know a language other than just C++ (primarily Objective C for iOS, Java/C# for Android & Blackberry).

All told, C++ is always good for desktop/OS development and its not too terribly difficult to pick up Objective C/C# with experience in C++.

Event though there is crapload of C++ programmers, its really extensive language, and you still can be the expert in it (but you need to invest a LOT of your time to do so).
