Since then the only tech upgrade he's gotten is a new LG 3D TV (only because they stopped analogue broadcasts) that surprisingly he finds easy to use because "it's like the phone".

My dad makes major tech purchases without doing any research. He seems to follow marketing schemes and cut corners with "good deals". I mean, with the internets it's easy enough to read up on some reviews. It's just hard to hold back and not say "why did you get this one?". In my experience, tech items are very sensitive to pricing in quality. You really do get what you pay for.

she has my sister's old mac now. she can't do shit on it (can't even turn it off or on without my help), but she's happy. that's what apple figured out right: idiots just need their bliss; they don't need anything else.

i don't know what the original problem was; my best guess was accidentally dragging over the touchpad and selecting the entire document, and then starting to type again. probably just hitting CTRL+Z would have fixed it every time, but every time she never game me a chance to actually look at anything.

btw, it was email composing in firefox; had nothing to do with libre office at all. she never understood that either.

I know this is a troll post, but for those curious why people actually use linux, it's because for native code development there really isn't any other option.

If you use Windows, you're going to have to emulate a linux environment to do compiles.

If you use Mac OS X, you're going to have to spend $3000 extra on the computer used, and can't use the computer you already have.
