>>22882633>free cash isn't the optimal path. That isn't a rule, it's the only logical route. it is not the only route. you can give away all your cash and starve to death. this will be consistent with the "i will improve the lives of others" rule.
>FURTHER, this "Make it up as you go along" is basically saying "If you have a position, you arn't allowed to change it, because if you are slightly wrong, you are completely wrong forever" you know that any person can have any system of belief forever and keep it consistent as long as you are allowed to add new rules.
for example consider this engagement
person A: raping lil girls is moral
person B: causing pain to girls is moral?
person A: oh ok. i will add a new rule. raping lil girls is moral as long as you don't cause pain.
person A: what if the girl doesn't want you to?
person B: oh right. i will now add even more rule. raping lil girls is ok as long as you torture them to make them accept your rape.
person A: wow, torture is ok now too?
person B: sure why not?
person A: but doesn't torture cause pain, violating the other rule?
person B: nope. waterboarding etc.
person A: what about psychological pain
person B: psychological pain doesn't count.
...
as long as you can add rules. you can just make up rule to cover the inconsistency pointed out by any person, allowing you to defend any arbitrary position indefinitely.
so obviously to consider any moral system legitimately, you can't add rules.
