>>501269>No bodybuilder stories? C'mon, /hm/Incidently, I was talking to a gym owner friend of mine about the pros and cons of bodybuilding.
He's a 40 year old, maybe 5ft6, full on competitor, fuckin' huge, and is always telling people how great bodybuilding is and how it's impacted his life for the better.
He's got a successful business thanks to it, it's given him an outlet and a opportunity to make something more of himself.
But he was also said that you're completely on your own, as far as the sport (he calls it a sport) is concerned. Nobody else that can take up the slack when things get tough or when you fail.
In some ways it is a very selfish lifestyle that requires you to sacrifice many things in order to be very good at it. A huge part of his social life will have to be given up.
Its biggest cons being that hardly anybody will really understand and accept what you're doing and be genuinely happy for you. And thus it is very difficult for him to be in a serious relationship, as bodybuilding will require you to give up a lot of your time to yourself.
With the bodybuilding mentality (constantly thinking about your diet, your rest and shit), he says he struggles with social aspects outside of the gym. I noted some sort of resentment when he said he still has much to learn to become successful in relationships.
Real decent guy. Says he's been single for over a decade now. No kids. No homo.
