And here's one of Cyrodiil, my favorite Elder Scrolls setting thus far. Yeah, yeah, Morrowind was strange and weird and awesome, but Cyrodiil was just gorgeous.

Me too.
My problem with Vvardenfell is that the sheer amount of varied landscapes, climates, and environments all exist on a six-square-mile island. Swamps, grasslands, desert, etc, all so close to eachother. I know it's fantasy, but Oblivion just felt a whole lot more consistent in atmosphere and world-design.

Also, I think Oblivion is the superior game.

The map contains some spoilers (Who is currently the Lord of which place etc) but I think it's outdated.

Warhammer World map. Whenever I read the warhammer novels, I like to look at this map and draw on top of it the approximate area in which the adventures took place. One day, I'll probably layer all the maps together and find out the areas where there are no overlapping coverage. Then I'll mail the map in to the company as a fun-type "complaint" saying "Why haven't you had any authors write a book covering this non-traveled spot???"

Yeah, the authors choose their milieau to write, but I wanted the company to receive something more "technical" than the usual fanboy letters in hopes that the technical merit within the books continues to be there. I don't like how so many franchise novels devolve into soap opera style writing which creates long novels with little actually happening. --> exaggeration: a novel length book can be written about you walking from one side of the room to the other if it was written in soap opera style.

I never understood why this caught on. the year we use as the point to measure history from is still the supposed birth of a religious figure, so what's the point of changing the name?

I'd understand the whole pretentious BCE/CE thing if all of history was changed to start from the founding year of Athens, or perhaps Mesopotamia

but as it stand it just reeks of hipster pretentiousness and I hate being forced to use it at school

This fairly reasonable Milky Way Galaxy map is courtesy of the National Geographic magazine and the many taxpayer dollars spent in cataloguing the millions of stars so far.
if you like maps, issues of those magazines always have maps in them to go with the detailed articles.

I imagine for a long time it was easy to identify with that time. I mean most people are poor with history, so if you give them a frame of reference that they can understand, it makes it simpler. I know some people who use the founding of Rome as starting date (year 0.) I'd use that too if I could.
