>>465944- Bush's recent actions with the Bailout is far more Socialism then Obama's plan to tax a little bit more the rich percentage of Americans and relieve a little bit of the tax of the middle class. Its not Socialism by the textbook standard anyway, which is simply giving workers control of the means of production. (I.E., what they go by in western Europe)
- He never said he was going to get rid of existing plans (In fact in the national televised debates with McCain, he said the exact opposite), he just wants to enable uninsured americans better and cheaper options for healthcare plans.
- The peacekeeping force is by and large a stretch. He just wants americans to learn basic stuff like CPR and home/self-defense tactics, which will have the effect of strengthening militias.
- Obama's recent appointments to the FCCs were hardline Net Neutrality proponents from the Clinton administration, so 'suppression of free speech' is also hard to fathom. The only part I could see you having a valid opposition to (And one I share myself) is the vote for the FISA, which Obama said was a compromise (He may potentially be better then what we've had in recent history, but he's still a politician)
So to summarize for your side: 8 Years of Bush have gotten us into an economic recession, two costly wars (10 Billion a Month as it currently stands), 4000+ troops dead in Iraq, socialism-economic-policy based bailouts of banks and now possibly the auto industry, massive violation of privacy rights (Thanks to the PATRIOT Act), removal of the right of Habeus Corpus for Gitmo Prisoners (Thanks to The 2006 Military Commissions Act) and a MASSIVE increase in the national debt (Currently 10~ Trillion Dollars).
So yeah, I AM hoping for some Change. Your side had 8 years to show what they had to offer and you all failed miserably.
