So, I'm officially in an art-block, /i/.
This sucks. I've got that feeling where I want to draw really badly, but as soon as I even so much as start to sketch out something, I get frustrated and dissatisfied. I'm so irritated right now...
What does /i/ do to get out of art block? Do you just sit it out, or force yourself to draw something, or what? Please share.

I don't think I've ever gotten a real artblock, or maybe I just never considered them artblocks ad really just considered them as times when I just didn't want to darw what was on my mind.

But usually I'll draw something really simple like anime or watch TV.

I get most of my ideas from TV and from looking at random deviations on DeviantART.

Mostly DA.

Looks at styles that inspire you on DA through a search maybe and you might feel the need to try that, after all, art is usually about just improving for me.

I think mine's mostly because I'd offered up 10 free sketches on DA, hoping it would help me improve a bit by seeing other people's styles and characters. Come to find out, though, I feel more cramped than ever with my art because I feel incredibly obligated to finish these things before I draw anything else.

I actually just spent a good part of my day going through deviations that I like a lot, but to no avail. I'm still as irritated as ever.

This might not help right now, but it could help you with future blocks. It said that whenever you draw do something like listening to music (this being the best idea as you can control when you listen to music and you perhaps choose a certain type to listen to, maybe a particular genre or band or something), and you begin to associate the two things, so when you're having art block you can just put that music on and it will make you want to draw.
I was surprised I hadn't thought of it before; it's a good idea.

I think I've read that article before, and you're right, it is a good idea. Kinda got a Pavlovian feel to it; I wonder if I'm that brainwashable, haha. I'll try after I'm out of my current block. <3

Try taking a walk and looking at stuff around you, change of scenery helps in thinking about new ideas I find.
Also another thing thats really fun is to go to a library and pick up books on clothes and architecture from around the world/different time periods.
You can also go on conceptart.org forums and check out the different threads there...
Basically, just learn about things you have not thought about before
