Help with upcoming political cartoon.

No.1219353 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Hi, it's me, Tom Preston. I've been advised to post here to get feedback and help on improving my art.

I'm doing a political cartoon for Friday's Soapbox Derpy, and I wanted advice on fixing it up. The comic is going to be about the recent tax issue surrounding Mitt Romney. Since the company he worked for sounds a lot like the villain for this Friday's final installment of Batman, and Rush Limbaugh has already made a hilarious remark to that effect, I chose to depict the ongoing drama with Batman (Obama) demanding to know where the other tax returns are from Bane (Romney).

These are two possible thumbnail sketches for the comic. The one on the left is an original scene, while the one on the right is a copy of a famous Batman cover, only with Obama and Romney inserted.

Which of these two do you think would make a better illustration for Friday's comic? What could be done to better frame the action? Should it be more cartoony, or realistic? Is the concept itself sound enough? Could it be pushed more? Should they both be scrapped in favor of a better idea or composition?

I know my reputation here precedes me. But I am genuinely trying to seek help, and all roads have led me here.
