The reason Michelangelo's David is so out of proportion (giant hands, giant head, etc) was because it was originally supposed to be displayed waaaaay up on a building, so when viewed from below it would look completely in proportion.

Actually the old masters fucked with anatomy a lot. They changed the size all over them and shit. Most of it was deliberate, tricks like forcing the perspective and stuff. You can spot it if you look close enough. You cant if you have just started learning after years of drawing pokeman and dragons balls and are now on an internet crusade against your secret shame since last week, like you are OP. You fag.
