I also want to ask, how do you get clean black lines when you scan? I did some relatively clean dark pencil lines and then scanned them, but to no avail; it came out horrendously bad. Any suggestions?

You mean a tablet? Well, I do have one, but it's pretty uncomfortable to draw on, I can control my lines better using a pencil...

But the one I have is Genius, and everybody says that Wacom are better, maybe I should get that....

But seriously, all the awesome artists I know usually scan first, what can I possibly be doing wrong?...

You have no concept of actual human shape and form. Legs don't bend like that, torsos are not lumps of dough, that head obviously isn't attached to that body (you probably traced it from somewhere). The "jazz hands" make her look completely flat, and her left nipple seems to be migrating south for the winter. She looks like you drew her the way you draw a building in perspective and you even got that wrong. And what is with his pinkies? They look like they don't want to see the horror you've created from how awkwardly they're turned away.

Also, the best way to get smooth, even lines is just to trace the lines on the computer once it's scanned in. No matter how smooth your pencil/pen lines are, the scanner will pick up dirt, debris and squiggles.

Hrmm, yes. The initial trial of the model seems to do a very decent job of eliminating the target. I suppose that the original designer owes me a bit of thanks for these improvisations, yes? Of course, there could be some tweaking needed. I might give it another test run later, perhaps yes.
