How to survive in /ic/:
1. Come in expecting to be torched. We do not pussyfoot around and we will not pat your ass. If there is something wrong with your artwork, we will point it out in the most abrasive and hostile manner possible. Be prepared. Take nothing personally.
2. Ignore all trolls. They are testing you. If you lash out, or in any way react to obvious bull baiting, we will eviscerate you. Remain passive and you will be rewarded.
3. Questioning the artistic ability of those who criticize you is unnecessary and arrogant; you do not need to be a cook to tell when something tastes like shit.
4. Do not expect any new advice if you post anime or any other exaggerated artform. Realism is not a style, but a foundation upon which all other forms of art are based. If you have not rigorously studied anatomy, light, perspective, color theory and composition, you are not ready to stylize. You must know the rules in order to break them. (That being said, if you do have a solid understanding of the fundamentals, feel free to proceed with your atrocities.)
5. Do not expect to cut corners. Every great artist you admire learned the basics before he began to do what he does.
6. Do not make excuses. There is a difference between a proportion that is purposefully exaggerated and an error made out of ignorance -- we can tell the difference. Stop while you are ahead.
7. Be modest. Do not speak highly of yourself. Do not compliment your own work. Leave your high horse at home; here, you are the lowest of the low.
8. Do not kiss ass. If you cannot formulate a post without a dick being sucked, be it ours or your own, say nothing at all. We do not tally brownie points.
9. Use readable English. Leave your emoticons back at Gaia. If you cannot write above a 6th grade level, say nothing at all.
10. Mention not your gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, or any other form of personal information. You are Anonymous; none of this is necessary to you.
