>>295197This is an idea that many potters are fighting against, in todays world people are ruled by consumerism of the cheapest, not consumerism of the quality.
I am a college student (last semester) who is actually focusing my studies in ceramic production and the changes it has undergone, which in turn follows and reflects the capitalist movement over time. I have found through my research that more personal creations of ceramic (and many other) forms is becoming more and more important in society. This of it as a beacon in a world of copy/paste, while a cup with a funny message on it might be cheap and slightly amusing, it in no manner has any real connection to the culture you come from other than it is the emboiement of capitalism, it in a manner limits societies expression of self and unites eveyone under a bland banner, hence a cup that is hand made and personal has more to say and carries with it more weight, than those found in wallmart.
