The oil should be dry- I painted it two summers ago. Will it still not work?

I meant the ink. If it's the water-soluble stuff based on wood soot, it'll only stick well to a porous surface. Oil paintings, especially varnished ones, don't take kindly to water. I'm not sure even alcohol-based ink would be a good idea.

Well, here's the painting in question. Really awful, right? It's the first I ever attempted. I want to ink over it to give it some reasonable form. So what do you suggest instead?

Mix one part painter's turpentine with two parts linseed oil, use it to thin black oil paint. Take a pen (pictured) and put a drop of the mixture in the reservoir. Do some practice strokes on paper and fix the consistency so it doesn't run all over your painting. Or just paint it with a thin brush.

No prob. And even if it doesn't work out, you'll have learned a new drawing technique.
On paper, try diluting watercolor or gouache and drawing with that instead of ink. White "ink" on dark paper is a good change of pace,
