What I find my preferable way to paint is to block in the values after I did a sketchy line/construction and work it until the painting can work without the line, then start refining the shapes, constantly checking the values and perhaps when I have a good value range I start using lower opacity brushes to make the transitions and whatever.
Also you're just sitting there holding your chair with no tablet in front of you on the desk, that's hardly a way to reference. And even if there was a tablet, you'd have to constantly turn back to the mirror in the same pose for referencing. y u do this
