hey /ic/, I need some advice.
I think I'd like to be an illustrator, but I didn't want to fork over 40k+ a year for art school so I decided I'd just try getting an English degree and minoring in art. I'm going to a cheaper university in the Fall (I got into a couple nicer ones with better art programs, but I didn't like them as much) and now I'm starting to regret not applying to art schools and seeing what scholarships I could get.
tldr; Is it necessary to go to art school/major in art to get a decent job as an illustrator? Or is building a good portfolio in (all of) my extra time enough?
