So I was told to read this book in order to improve my drawings, shading and whatnot.

I started reading it, nothing makes sense, everything contradicts what I've been trying to learn, there's some words that I just don't understand (not english here...)

So am I supposed to just blatantly copy everything untill I get it right? Am I supposed to develop a method? What is this I don't even. The person that recommended it to me (yep it was here) or someone that read it before please tell me wtf am I supposed to do with this and tell me how is it gonna help me in any way.
