Saw this site http://www.tabletmod.com/index.html and it looked quite interesting. Anyone has tried something like this or bought it? I own an Intuos4L and thought about doing something similar but would it be worth it?
Doing a case I guess I could come up with something. An 15.4" LCD I can get easily and later for calibrating I can try to code something but Jitter seems to be a small problem and I dunno if overall it would be worth it or just a waste of money and time.

Personally since I don't draw a lot my Intous4 Medium works more then enough for the stuff I do.

If I was going to get a Cintiq it would be the 12" since I mostly just use Mudbox for sculpting and I really don't need the 21"

So having to buy a Intous4 Large + the kit and then the time to assemble it just seems like to much work and effort.

I tried the 12" Cintiq out. Unless you like drawing on a space smaller than a sheet of copy paper, bigger is the way to go.

Finished mine a few days ago. All custom made, dont bother buying one of those cases really, just measure it all out yourself.

Looks good, similar to what I was thinking of. Do you like to draw with it or prefer wihout this mod more? How's the jitter and accuary? Did you get the cursor on screen and pen tip 1:1?

I don't see why you need to buy the enclosure, you can just tape a used laptop lcd screen onto your wacom tablet...

To use an LCD monitor you need to buy separate controller boards and inverters. for the panel you will need to disassemble the LCD and reconfigure the circuitry, then there are the issues with FFC cables. the numerous jitter issues that need to be adressed, heat management, calibration, depth tests, interference.

You dont just stick the monitor on top of the tablet... i gave up on my attempt, too much work for me.

It would be easier to purchase the kit for the large, which the large plus a kit is around 700 dollars, which would just be easier to purchase a cintiq and would only be about 200 dollars or so more.

TLDR:Just buy a Cintiq to save time and effort. Not to mention headaches.

I believe my opinion on this subject stands until someone can find an LCD panel kit made for this sort of interactions that would be cheaper than the kit OP posted.

Cintiq has huge jittering and accuracy problems.

I've tried one and bought a Fujitsu tablet based on exactly the same tech. Both had really poor accuracy. Both made your hand static build up in electric charge to an almost painful level.
