>>2Thread reported for GNAA Last measure bullshit.
>>1As to answer your question, there's numerous imageboard software out there, but I'll try to compound it all into the most popular.
Futallaby - (
http://www.1chan.net/futallaby/) It is a PHP script based on Futaba's script. (MySQL version) It is pretty much just a basic, English translated version. I would
NOT recommend using this because it's horridly ancient. (Unless you're knowledgeable enough in PHP and MySQL to screw around with it. 4chan's script is based off of this script, but that's closed source and team 4chan won't release their version.)
Wakaba - (
http://wakaba.c3.cx/s/web/wakaba_kareha.html) Is a perl script that is "strictly modelled" after Futaba and the Futallaby scripts. (Wakaba is considered to be Futallaby's replacement)

Kusaba - Kusaba was once an imageboard script originally written for 7chan, but then was released to the public for anyone who wanted to start a 4chan look-alike. It is discontinued and no longer available from the original site. Forks of the script exist and are being actively maintained.
Kusaba 1.0.4 (Original script, last version)
http://www.megachan.net/chan-scene/kusaba-is-dead-here-are-the-installation-files/Serissa - (
http://www.serissa.org/) is a fork of Kusaba, first used by 7chan to update their aging Kusaba software and used by many smaller *chan sites. It is a popular fork and is actively maintained.
Kusaba X - (
http://www.kusabax.org/) Is a Kusaba fork maintained by a fellow named Harrison. Aims to be "less crappy" than the original Kusaba script or its other forks.
Kusaba-2 - (
http://code.google.com/p/kusaba-2/) Is yet another Kusaba fork maintained by Operator Chan. (
http://operatorchan.org/) As far as I know it's horribly incomplete (even for a Kusaba based script) and I wouldn't recommend it.
PyIB - (
http://code.google.com/p/pyib-standalone/) PyIB is a imageboard script written in python. It is maintained by the same person who wrote the original Kusaba script. Incomplete and buggy, would not recommend.
Thorn - (
http://sovietrussia.org/code/src/thorn-11b9.tar.bz2) Thorn is no longer developed, would not recommend it.
Drydock - (
http://code.573chan.org/site/page.php) is based off of the now defunct Thorn script. Looks promising, and appears to bring a lot of new features to imageboards, but is incomplete. Would not recommend.
My personal opinion? I would stay away from anything that has to do with Kusaba, unless you're not totally serious in running an imageboard. Wakaba seems to be your best bet. If you know enough about PHP and MySQL, why not modify Futallaby? Drydock will probably make for a pretty awesome script when it's complete. PyIB will probably end up being a very fast script once completed.
So in tl;dr - I'd recommend Wakaba, but modify Futallaby if you can. While you're using those check out Drydock and/or PyIB as they may become more of an alternative.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
