With the prevalence of online archives, I don't think IDs on /soc/ are worthwhile anymore. People are worried about stalking and the precautions they can take aren't considered to be worth the effort - so they don't bother posting. I'm also concerned about those who don't fully appreciate the risks (a lot of these people clearly don't think rationally).

Three viable options:
-Remove IDs completely
-Have a unique ID for every thread
-Allow some email code to change ID (like sage used to)

Name of the game is user participation. The only people who don't care about stalkers are people who post their dicks.
