Got my Youmu Nendoroid in yesterday.

I kinda have a rule about taking certain kinds of figures out of the package. My PVCs all get displayed but action-type figures like figmas and Nendoroids usually stay in the box.

For some reason I am having some trouble sticking with that rule. I... really want to play with this one.

I've been thinking about switching to SAL for certain things. It doesn't seem to matter much for the figures that come out of boxes anyway, other than having to wait a little while longer.

What's been your track record with SAL as far as what kind of condition your package arrives in. I've heard some horror stories.

Never used SAL actually, this is my first time. I picked registered SAL so that I won't have to worry as much. I'm somewhat new to this sort of thing and I always chose EMS the few times I did, even though the costs hurt me quite a bit.

Everything there was shipped with SAL besides Fate because her ass is too big for SAL. No lost shipment or anything but the Senjougahara came like after 3weeks-4weeks. At first I thought she drowned in the earthquake. The other horror story is my Touhou SD keychain Vol. 10 (Ran) which came miraculously after 3months+.
The Saber Lily box was damaged before I bought it. Got it for cheap because of damaged box.

Damn. Those all look fine.

I've had literally hundreds of items shipped through EMS and the convenience is great, but the price difference between EMS and SAL is kinda staggering.

My income at the moment is kinda limited so it would help to cut a few corners with shipping. I might give SAL a shot for my next purchase.

I usually wouldn't bother using EMS for small orders. As long as there isn't anything rare in your order or you got a shitty delivery man probably nothing will go wrong. But when orders go above the 8000-10000 yen line I'd still use it for peace of mind. It's not like that 1000 yen more or less will matter within those price ranges.

I already pre-ordered this long ago but looking at the page now, it says it's coming with some bonus items. Kind of happy of that since that's what they also did with Yukari.

Also, will there be another fig event showcase this May or sometime? I want to see more Touhou figs.

And I'm curious of the next Griffon figs. Koishi and Kogasa protoypes don't look that bad at all.

I didn't say it's shit. Most of their figures are not bad, but absolutely boring, I see no sculptor's talent or inspiration in them (is it correct way to use "in" or not?).

By "them" are you referring to Griffon as a whole? I think people here keep mistakingly using blanket terms about Griffon when they mean Icon or Kouta or whoever else is one of the few doing the Touhou Griffon sculpts. Not everything by Griffon is uninspired.

They seem to be fixing this, and newer Griffon trumps the older stuff in every possible way. I think it started with the Gugnir Remilia, but I could be wrong.

The size vary for different 'grades' and for different models.

Excuse the garbage photo, but here's a little comparison. The Mokou is 1/8, the mini RX-78 is a "Real Grade" but I don't think there are many of those. The crossbone beside is a master grade. 1/100 scale maybe?

They are easy to put together. You can mess up I guess, but it's still kind of forgiving. The instructions are in Japanese but they are all pictures essentially and the parts are numbered, so you don't need to know any to put them together.

Manufacturers, I guess for Gundam specifically you'd just get Bandai. Kotoubukiya makes some kits as well but I don't think they make Gundam ones. I started a new armored core one yesterday.

Just got into them myself. Most common scales are 1/144 (High Grade) and 1/100 (Master Grade) but different lines of kits exist with different levels of detail and different price points. 1/144 is about the size of your average action figure, I think. Or just look up the size of the suit you're interested in and divide by 144.

The instructions generally do not require any Japanese knowledge. They're like IKEA instructions, seriously. There's not much there to screw up besides cutting your own fingers when removing the little nubs of excess plastic.

I actually was not aware that there was more than one Gundam manufacturer. Just go to your local Asian mall and look around.
