Why is Japanese shit so expensive? I'm not only referring to imports, but also localized things.

Nendoroids are $50 to $100 even though they're just 4-inch tall plastic toys, anime costs about $3 per episode until a couple of years after it first airs and they get a box set out, it costs $60 to $100 for a new hentai anime, $10 for a 99 cent bag of doritos... The only Japanese thing Americans can buy for a reasonable price is a compact sedan.
