>>10051995>>10051995You probably are a common "armchair commando", for raging about a word I apparently used false in a language which is neither mine nor the one from my country, and in a vocabulary that isn't the one of my army.
anyway,
OP, tank on tank is very rare, even in symetric conflicts (which there aren't anymore, nowadays...)
The only situation where it would happen, is when two armies push against each other, which is not very common. (If you have basic tactical instruction, you will know that every combat is fought by the principle of FFFF : Find, Fix (with fire superiority), Flank, Fight, and that at every level in the army. At a certain level, you will use infantry to hold position (therefore, fix), and armored to flank.
by flanking, i mean attacking the side (weak part) of the enemy to gain superiority.
Of course, the enemy isn't dumb, and he will know that if you fin him, you will try to fix him and flank him so that you can fight him, so he will protect his flanks with... infantry, right. So mainly, you'll have tanks on infantry positions.
If you however have a dumb batalion, regiment or brigade commander, he will maybe want to attack the enemy at the exact point where the enemy is himself attacking.
You will there have to offensive forces (armored) against each other...
and what principle will be applied to the combat ? FFFF, right.
doctrine is so :
if you encounter a weaker enemy, you destroy it
if you encounter an equal enemy, you destroy it or at least make him flee away
if you encounter a stronger enemy, you make him flee away or at least fix him (so that others can flank him)
I hope I answered your question.
