Earlier I made a thread and posted images with descriptions for each photo describing the Battle of the Bulge and the Invasion of Normandy.

Apparently you guys liked it so much it got archived.

I'm glad you guys liked it, I enjoy showing my collection to people.

So naturally I went into my folders and found my Pacific folder.

well, at first i thought those planes were Douglas Dauntless SBD, but they are actually Vought Vindicators, and that type only served on 4 carriers (lol, wikipedia). of those 4, only Wasp's island looked anything like the carrier in the picture to me. so if that is indeed the Wasp in the picture, and those are Vindicator's from Wasp, then there is a problem with the date on that picture, as Wasp was sunk on 15 September, 1942.

Good work OP, I especially like the B17 interior covered in pin-up. My best friend's grandfather was a mechanic/waist gunner on a B17, stationed in the Aleutians. I don't know much about what he did or saw but I know he caught some shrapnel in his leg.

Sadly he passed away a year or so ago. I felt like a bitch because I think I cried more than my friend at his funeral. I spent so much time at that guy's house listening to his stories and hatred for slopes. The man refused to eat rice and didn't have any from the day he came home to the day he died.

The Japanese soldier was buried for 1 1/2 days in this shell hole playing dead and ready with a live grenade inches away from his hand. The Marines feared he might be further booby trapped underneath his body after knocking the grenade to the bottom of the shell hole. Promising no resistance, the prisoner is given a cigarette he asked for and was dragged free from the hole.

August 10, 1945: An arrow marks the spot where the A-bomb struck at Nagasaki, Japan. Much of the bombed area is still desolate, the trees on the hills in the background remained charred and dwarfed from the blast and little reconstruction, except of wooden shacks as homes, has taken place.
