Neither me nor my friend was "officially there", so had to get Burger King at the airport, my god did that kid's eyes pop out. I got a whopper and he thought one layer of the burger was for 1 meal.
So, North Korean kid and co went to South Korea, we stayed onto the airplane, flew back to Hong Kong and went to school very tired the next day.
We actually talked a lot more than that, but school/education wise. During the famine in the 90's, UN sent people over there and they was "suddenly" a lot of food for everyone. The moment the UN inspectors left, the food, even the uneaten stuff on your plate was confiscated.
School gardens were turned into mini-crop fields but they never grew anything because the teachers and people nearby would be so hungry they'd rather dig up the planted seeds or growing seedlings and eat that.
Every week or was it month they had "self criticism" classes and you had to basically said what you did wrong (and you were never not wrong) and how the country, communist party and Kim suffered because of it. Then you pointed your finger at someone else and then denounced them, you always needed someone to denounce and it's a bit of a tat for tat "You say you heard me call X this and I'll say I heard you call Y that"
Then you write pages upon pages on how you will "insert party ideology and commonly used phrases" correct your wrong doings and do good for the country and such.
They also told me how to use field mice to look for food, anyone want to learn that?
