G'day /k/, Ausfag here.

Is it possible to go to a gun range without a firearms license and rent a gun for the day?
I'm interested, but not sure whether I want to start shooting as a hobby.
Getting a gun license takes a lot of paperwork and time here, so if I can do a "try before you buy" kinda thing at a gun range I'd love to know.

Alright, I'll have to find a local range to ring up!
I'm 18, which is pretty much the "you're an adult" age in Australia, so hopefully I'll be able to do this.

Do ranges typically supply ear/eye protection, or do I need to bring my own?

NSW you can go to some ranges, fill in a P650 or 560 form and try out shooting.

I don't know if pistol ranges will still let you do this after some schizo bitch decided to sneak a pistol home and unload it on her dad.

Depends on state, I know in NSW you can do a Try Shooting course, just fill out 2 pieces of paper beforehand, show up on the day with ID, they take you though a safety course, and pewpewpew your heart away

Would help if you told us what state you're in, but in general you can join a club and shoot without having a license etc.

Some ranges will let you pay a fee, shoot and then go home, no membership or anything, but those clubs are usually over priced and shit.

Yes they do, if they don't you should find a better range.

In NSW some ranges wil let you fire air rifles/22 without a liscence, although you need to sign up for a course thing, which means sitting through a lecture and being under supervision
