>>8770662the one from Your picture is pnv 57 - passive mode - pnv57e comes with a slighty different googles and mode 'fashion' helmet-cap (or whatever it is called in english :P) - also, sorry for my bad - searchin the net for picture, i've recognised that active one was PNV 57e, not 57a.
Generally, pnv57e were better (they're true generation 1 nv devices, pnv57 were sometimes called 'zero generation'), but if you manage to run it (they're build the russian way - it's hard to damage them, even if for really short time the lenses are exposed to direct sunlight or strong light source), and if the wires aren't burned or almost-burned, goggles may work for 15 years or so.
My personal advice - if You know how, rewire them for 3v cr123 cells (they're awesoem for storing power for long time periods, and can give juice for 10 - 15 hours of non stop power), or, if You don't want to mess with the electronic, buy yourself a 12V gel battery - nowadays they're small (back then they have size of small UPS device, i remember having one for AKS nv scope, shit required backpack ;-) ), and power it straight from them.
Also, be carefull messing with the electronics - internal transverter generates about 30 000V impulses for photocatodes.
If you want cheap IR lights for them, buy one or two 1dollar 9 led flashlights (like these
http://img.promocyjne.pl/190403_1.jpg), and replace LEDS with IR leds (you can then strap them to goggles itself).
Or, on some china stores like dealextreme, you can buy premade IR flashlights, which is easy way (i have some of them for myself.)
But remember, don't expect woohoo superb images during night, it's "gen0", and it's real life, not videogame :P (i have some gen2 devices, and many people can't understand that they're just show images that way, not like in movies)
