I'm a high school senior. Already picked out my university, and I will be attending ROTC. The guys there told me my GPA will determine MOS picking order, or something like that. My question is, how well do I have to do to become a chopper pilot. I know most of those guys are warrant. I really have my heart set on this, /k/, and I'd like to know if it's even possible.

inb4 ROTC sucks, officers suck, army sucks. I just want my questions answered.

Shoot for upwards of 3.5 Culm. to be competitive for Aviation. The current OML sets grades at 40% of your score, ROTC performance is 60%.

I don't know much about ROTC, but if there is one thing I know about real life, its that your grades DO NOT matter. For anything.

Sports, eyesight, ASVAB (or officer equiv), and the like are the only things that matter.

Shoulda picked a more hardcore University. Advice for you, from a ROTC cadet. Shut up, listen to your two's and three's. Work out outside of PT, score high on the APFT. Don't talk unless you have to, work hard, and embrace the suck if you have real FTX's. Basically, be independently motivated, don't be a spotlight ranger.

What do you mean by a 'hardcore' university? Would it be worth my time to transfer?

I'm at Gonzaga University and compared to most ROTC programs I've seen/visited, it's way over the top. Ranger Challenge team hasn't been beaten in the past 18 years, best average APFT score in the nation, pretty much all the cadets are independently motivated.

Definitely worth scoping out.

Pilots are almost always contracted. Typically have a degree in aeronautics, physics, whatever.
