Ortho Home Defense MAX: legit or phooie?

The trigger pull is atrocious and sights are non-existent; I'm pretty much limited to ~7ft with it. Can I really trust this stuff for home defense?

7ft, is more than enough for indoors.
As for insects, I use HotShot.
I have yet to have an insect continue to live after feeling the wrath of my HotShot Blaster.

I prefer these for home defense. Compact with wide spread, and useful against airborne targets. The trigger takes a bit of getting used to though.
