Yeah, when I work, I make money hand over fist. problem is I'm only employed about half the time. The life of an at-will contractor in the IT industry is... uncertain. Particularly when the two things that most affect your longevity -- office politics and the department budget -- are the two things you have no control over. You can do a great job, exceed all expectations, be big buddies with everybody.. and carry your shit out in a cardboard box with zero notice anyway. It's happened to me almost every time. They're not *required* to give you two weeks' notice, you see. So they don't. Even the nice ones.
