Just bought a .177 spring-piston Air rifle (Eurofag here)

My question is 1. What range of use does this have. It's listed at 1000ft/sec, and has a warning of 600m as a hazard, yet after something like 50 feet it is inaccurate? What experience does /k/ have with this 2. The largest game that's able to be taken down with this. (Deer? Squirrels?)

Of course I've read all of the stats online, on the labels etc. But I'm posting this thread for clarification, as I haven't had the chance to shoot this thing yet. Pic unrelated lol

you mean a bb gun?
if so biggest game is most likley rabbits and shit
nothing really big unless you hit it in the head

You won't be killing deer.

A 1000fps air rifle should be able to get consistent shots around 150 feet or slightly more.

What pellets brand and type are you using?

Assuming rifled pellet gun, I'd say even larger rabbits might be too big. Squirrels, most birds, etc. should be fine. I wouldn't count on it being accurate much past 100 yards, but only one way to find out.

Because he's trying to fit in and trying too hard. Anyone who's actually been on /k/ long enough knows that air rifles are okay, I mean hell you can take small game with them.

Point being they are certainly not toys and have practical uses.

Not OP, but I could take large rabbits with a cheap (Crossman?) pump air pistol. Of course, a lot of times they would run under the shed to bleed out and stink for a good week.

You could take out a rabbit with it, but for reliable kills you really want a .22, .177 are only really for target shooting. As for range, it'll be far more than 50 feet, no where near 600m though (that'll be the effective range that it's still dangerous at, doesn't mean you'll hit shit at that distance). If it's inaccurate at 50 feet either you're a shit shot or it's a shit rifle, even 20 MOA accuracy will get you 3.4inch groupings at 50 feet.

.177 doesn't quite cut it without ultra precise shot placement. .22 is better, .25 seems to occupy a sweet spot for things smaller than cats.

Seriously? Google Dan Quackenbush and prepare for a seriously long wait.

Maybe the new Crosman Rogue .357 air rifle is more your speed? I'll warn you, msrp is $1500

1. I have a springer air gun in .177, quite accurate up to 50 yards, but stopping power may be questionable at that range. I've hit paper with it at 100 yards with a 2 or 3 foot holdover, but it doesn't even penetrate the paper. We watched the pellet bounce of the target through my spotting scope.

2.Squirrels, birds, rabbits.

We didn't find the body right away, rigor had set in, plus most of the rabbits were small. And, they're pests.
