Hey /k/
I'm writting a story and I need your expertise: if you knew there will be about 200 romans out for your blood the moment you step out of your small-car sized time machine, which items from the present day do you bring along with you to even the odds?

Additional info: the time machine appears atop a small hill in the middle of a large desert valley. The romans are all coming from the same direction. You don't speak latin. It takes six hours for the time machine to recharge and get you out of there again.

And varous camping tools, such as a multitool, matches, and anything else that'll fit into the storage compartment of the time machine.

Personally I'd grab a water-cooled machine-gun with 10,000 rounds belted together. Any decent Vickers, MG08, Maxim 1910 or M1917 could have thousands of rounds shot through it without having to change barrels, so I'd be fine. Forget about only killing the first few, I'd kill 'em all, then spend the remaining 5 hours 50 minutes fucking their bodies, just to be sure.

I've got a midlength AR and a belt with 6 spare mags, loaded and ready to go. I've got 800 more rounds on stripper clips, in an ammo can. I've got a couple of pistols, but what I'd probably do is break down my cheaper 1911 for spare parts and take the Kimber Warrior, and I've got a bunch of mags and a bunch of ammo for that. I've even got a sword (a Del Tin 2159), and a decent axe (a Gränsfors Bruks two lugged broad axe, pic related, more useable blade than a regular camping axe, and lighter; makes a better pack axe than the pack axes they sell).

I grab some food, a lot of water, the guns, the sword, the axe, a Kabar, the ammo, a couple changes of drab clothing, a bandanna, my pack frame, a handfull of empty AR mags, and a good set of boots.

If the Romans are at more than 600 yards, I stuff mags until they are within 500 yards. Then I prone out and pick targets, until they are within 200 yards, priority given to men running field artillery level siege equipment, then junior officers, followed by senior officers, and NCOs (this will be clearly delineated by mode of dress, especially helmets). Then I kneel, and start firing into the ranks. Hopefully they break (Or I kill them all) before I run empty or they loose the first flight of plumbata, pilum, or other javelins.

Once safe, I reload my empty mags, loot corpses.

If any surrender, I try and suffer through interrogation, I know some of the root words, and I can make myself reasonably understood in Spanish, so hopefully I can pick up enough to make due quickly.

Depending on area, I might roll into town decked in armor, carrying an Eagle, and riding on a Sedia carried by my new slaves, and figure something out from there.

At minimum, I'd like to return to the present with treasure and bitches.
