Hey /k/,
Theres a tree outside my window that woodpeckers like to make nests in. So today they pissed me off to no end with their pecking and annoying noises of the like, I took out my pellet gun and picked one of them off. I didn't realize how invigorating killing something felt. Don't take me for one of those wannabe hunter kids that think they're hardcore for killing a snail with the leg of their high chair. My point is that the act of killing made me feel powerful.
With this I ask /k/ 2 things,
-What does it feel like to kill a person?
-Am I a messed up person for feeling empowered by killing?

killing an animal is not the same. Killing a person does something to you. I won't claim i have ever killed anyone but i do work with those that have and "Some" of them aren't right after that. Nothing outrightly noticeable like holywood would have you believe but it's there. Other people either know how to let it go or are better at covering it up.

I am a deer hunter, it's not the actual killing of the deer that I love, it's the thrill of tracking a deer over mountains and through meadows trying to get a good buck with a good shot, then having it all come together and watching the deer die quickly.
When you get to the deer it's a completely different feeling, something more like winning a fight, a feeling that everyone has, but I can't really put it in words.
This is much different than the feeling after you kill a pig or chicken for food.
I prefer hunting to slaughtering believe it or not.
As for killing another human, never done it, but I have wondered what it would be like to hunt someone who is also hunting me back. Like if I was to get serious enough and slightly suicidal, finding someone who is also serious and slightly suicidal who wants to hunt me back, then going out in the mountains or something starting like 5 miles apart. First person to kill the other guy wins obviously. Never been more than a thought though.

Totally agree. An animal would kill you and not feel bad over it, not out of malice, but for food or because you're competition or whatever. I heard someone quote, "nature is not good or evil, nature is indifferent", that's kind of how I view it.

That being said, I very rarely hunt and when I fish I almost always throw them back. I just don't take pleasure from killing things, but I don't feel bad about it either.

I see catch and release differently. Catch and release serves no purpose. It tires out the fish completely, and often the die when released. Also, handling, and netting them damages their slime, increases their chance of an infection.

I don't fish much, but I kill what I catch if it's edible. I feel that hunting and fishing animals is much more ethical than eating meat from a factory farm.
