This thread is a serious thread. It is a real scenario, that is being taken into consideration by the United States government... and ultimately, they got nothin'.

Someone is going to come and save us? But America isnt even taking the first steps of Shutting down of nuclear power plants, and disposing of its fuel. And god bless me, the nuclear plants on fault lines. What are they thinking. China is watching us, Russia is watching, Germany and England are watching and we are sitting around masturbating to the War crimes.

I'd be just fine, because reactors in the US are even better designed than the wapanese ones.

In a worst-case scenario, you'd just dump a million pounds of concrete over it until more permanent measures can be taken.

Also for EMP fags; the effects of EMPs are highly overrated. Aircraft in hangers (ie almost all aircraft) and cars more than a few dozen miles from ground zero will be A-OK. closer if the cars are in a parking garage.

I consider all the tornadoes to be a perfect example of why you would want a BOB. This is for all the people I've seen saying it's pointless, you'll never need it, etc.

If I had been in any of those areas, first thing in hand would be my BOB as I made my way to whatever shelter I had. I would have been at least slightly equipped to help medically with people with minor injuries and would be probably a fair bit better off supporting myself when you look at how much it basically isolated some of these places.

So yeah, not trying to thread-jack, just taking the opportunity to voice my opinion and be Anonymous.

You've read splinter cell before, ya? The newest game Conviction [spoilers]Revolves around a plot to detonate an EMP over washington DC... and on one of the posters in the lab it says that "leukaemia and cancer as well as food shortages" will be among the causes of death for the majority of people.

It is strange how Tom Clancy someone predicts so many things in his books, that actually happen in reality.

Unless nuclear power plants are built to withstand and EMP, they are completely vulnerable. And how old are they, 30, 40 , 50 years? Did we even know what an EMP Was 50 years ago? or how it would affect electronics? If what happening in 1859 happened today we would be so fucked. The only Good scenario in that case, is that only either the western or eastern hemisphere being affected, not both. of them.
