I just ordered a russian tank helmet, pic related, can anyone tell me
a) when it was used etc ww2, 60's, 80's etc.
imo it looks like a late 80's type but soviet tank helmets are really similar
b) the headphone jack i highlighted, does anyone know an adapter, or type this is to get it to a 3.5mm

Go to radio shack and buy something called a "toner" also known as a "fox and hound" Either that or make your own. You can get your 3.5mm jack on one end and add alligator clips to the wires. Poke around on the pins until you've figured it out. Crimp or solder your stuff, or just go ghetto with the alligator clips.

there was a thread on this exact subject less than 2 weeks ago.

basically try google and find the link to a message board where a guy replaced some parts with better ones and wired it up for a mic output and a 3.5mm jack.

It isn't hard to figure out the pinout of that jack. There are only 5 pins. It should take you less than five minutes.

just as long as you don't hook wall current to it, you should be fine. audio tone from a walkman is less than 3 volts usually.
