I'm thinking it was more a matter of which of the top level entry teams was closest to the target and which guys had the most raids under their belt. Delta may technically be on a higher tier than SEALs, but their responsibilities extend to more than just kicking doors. I'd imagine that they did a lot of the reconnaissance in tandem with the CIA, and the actual grunt work was assigned to the SEALs because they happened to have a more seasoned team within striking distance.

It's not a matter of pride or ego with these guys, they just use the best assets they have on hand, and utilize each of those assets in accordance with their areas of expertise.
