Hey /k/, I got a question for you.

I am looking for a Springfield loaded and have been calling places within 25 miles of me.

I talked to this guy, who has a company called "D & M GUNS & AMMO" which he runs out of his house.

He says he can order whatever I want from his distributor and have them here tomorrow.

I am new to buying guns and this seems a little fishy? I get that he maybe an FFL, but how would he just be able to get things that everyone else has on back-order?

Having it there the next day sounds like nonsense. Kitchen Counter FFLs are not uncommon, but be wary. If you get ripped off you may not have a lot of options for recourse.

Anyone can run a business out of their home assuming they are not in violation of any local codes.

If he has an FFL then he can buy/sell guns.
Check him out he might be legit.

But this is true of anyone running a really small business. That's not fishy, it's just how our economy and society function.

Also what if his distributor is in the same state? It would definitely be capable of being there in one day.

My local gun shop's main dealer is over in Ohio and I live in Pennsylvania, anything you order from him, provided his dealer has it in stock, is there tomorrow.

Distributors just really big companies that order fucktons of various guns directly from the manufacturer. FFLs can not order right from a manufacturer, so they have to order from a big dealer/distributor. The big distributors can not sell directly to private citizens, only to FFLs, police departments and the gubment.

So it goes like this, for example:

>Glock comes from Smyrna, GA

>gets sent to massive firearms distributing company

>they sit on their large array of products and have FFLs place orders

>FFL guy places order for the specific gun you want

>distributor sends it to him for a warehouse price, for Glocks this is usually about 350 to 400 dollars

It more than likely is.

Consider the following:
1. Who is this magical distributor that can get the gun you want to you "tomorrow" when other, more reputable dealers are have back-order issues? Are they on the level? Are they Dwarves who magically forge the weapons in the sooty fires of Svartalfheim? Even if the guy has an FFL, you need to be sure he's getting his weapons from reputable sources.

2. Does he ask for the money up-front? If he does, then this should set off warning klaxons in the back of your head. Sure, he may need the money so he can buy the product from the aforementioned distributor. But if this is the case, it means he doesn't really have a lot of experience in weapons-selling, as he doesn't have an account to be billed on a later date. Cash-in-hand is about the worst way for a distributor to do business, and those that do are rarely on the level. Chances are even better that this guy will just take your money, not give it back, and avoid your phone calls with the excuse of, "oh, the distributor hasn't gotten it to me yet, blah blah blah..."
