Sup /k/,

Well I finally took a sip of the /k/ool aid and got a Noveske upper. Its an 18in stainless steel barrel with switchblock. I gotta say, its pretty fucking sweet. I mounted it on my RRA lower with match 2 stage trigger. Im curious how much better itll be than my old set up, RRA 20 in.

My only complaint is the fucking flash hider wont come off for the life of me, no matter what I tried. I want to switch it with my YHM flash hider so I can mount my suppressor. Tomorrow having my local gunsmith give it a go, trying to get it ready for my Saturday shoot.

I think Noveske applies that loctite-type thread locker stuff (Rockwell? Rockweld? Something like that) that resists high temperatures on all of their flash hiders when they attach them.
That's probably what it is.

Yep I called and thats what they said. Its a royal pain in the ass. Ive been able to remove another flash hider held on with red loctie before no problem. Im just pissed that I scratched the finish of my barrel trying to get it off. Its not bad tho.

Best to have the proper tools (and not just any tools, specific ones), but I'm sure you already tried with that.
From what I remember the one they use had a relatively low breaking point, something around 25lbs or something? It was weaker than loctite, just extremely temperature resistant.
Oh well, did they give you any tips for getting it off?

Just put the upper receiver in a vice or door or something to hold it and just grab that flash hider with a pair of pliers, it'll come off.

Ya I tried with a Stoner AR wrench and didnt work. I also tried soaking it in Kroil, also tried heating it with a torch for just a little; not even a budge. I dont want to crack my recveive or fuck up the barrel so Im gonna let a gunsmith do it. At least if he breaks it, well he bought me another Noveske.

You'll make the biggest difference. If you were laying down 1'' groups with the RRA, you'll be hitting .5'' groups with the Noveske using the same ammo.

Thats true. Speaking of ammo, I got this primarily so I can start shooting .77 gr 5.56. My RRA could do up to about 75 on a good day.
