i am trying to get my greek better in preparation for a trip this coming fall

i want to surround myself in the language for a while before i venture off

what are some online fluent greek communities that i can hang out in?

also, if any greekfags want to talk greek over skype, let me know!

OP, are you learning Ancient Greek, Koine or Demokriti? They differ a lot, it's like calling Old Germanic, Saxon and modern English by the same name.

These greekfags here can only teach you Demokriti, that has no use except if you're going to Greece. I suggest you learn Koine instead.

However, since this bullshit is pretty common ("my lang is conservative! It is puuuuure!"), I'll refute for the sake of others.

How it's Earth in Greek... lemme see... Γη (pronunced as /ji/)?
Look now in Koine. Γαία (pronounced /gaja/). I'm not even talking about the writing (it does change too!), but pronounce.

Koine, for a today Greek speaker, is so alien and not-understandable as Archaic Latin would be to a today Italian or Spanish speaker.

Newfag. EVERY FUCKING SINGLE LANGUAGE CHANGES. You just don't see because Demokriti spelling is pretty conservative and you still call the [grand-]daughter language by the same name.
