OK, so my dad has pretty much every single one of this woman's novels in the family bookshelf, and has nothing but positive things to say about her philosophy. He's also a very staunch Libertarian, and almost insanely militant about it (the kind of man you will deeply regret entering a discussion on politics with), and I get the impression that this author had a big part in making him that way.
I wouldn't have given it a second thought if I hadn't started coming to /lit/ and started seeing this meme spouted everywhere. Was wodnering if anyone could tell me how exactly Ayn Rand's books seem to convert people so strongly to Libertarianism? I only have a vague idea of what Objectivism is all about, and not sure if I really want to dedicate my time to reading a 1000+ page novel on it.
