>>6424812Is it really? For a 3D game perhaps as you need to have much more detailed 3D models, backgrounds, effects, little objects, shadows, HD textures, and so forth and forth.
But for a 2D Sprite game, when going to HD, most of the production process stays pretty much the same, all that changes is that the size of the sprites are drawn at are larger now. And considering many sprites are often drawn by illustrators eg: the R series/Alt/Weiss in OGs were all drawn by Yanase Takayuki who is a Mecha designer and illustrator, HD drawings are certainly no stranger to him. Or the various Obari robots have all their sprites and cutins drawn by Obari himself. To an animator, drawing at a larger scale shouldn't be much of an issue.
This is a sprite rip of the Turn A Gundam from Z1. Just see how tiny these are on your screens and the Z series is considered to have the best looking sprites in the SRW saga. If anything being able to draw sprites on a larger scale shouldn't be all that more difficult or time consuming, if anything it'll make things easier as everything won't have to be squashed into so many tiny pieces.
