It's the Cosmic Era 1970. Kira Yamato, an kid from the uptown, is on his way to ballroom dancing stardom when he is suddenly dragged into the ongoing dance war between the square Earth Feddies and the funky fresh Zodiac Alliance of Funk Treaty (ZAFT). The Feddies is caught off guard when ZAFT forces, led by Athrun "Atta-Boy" Zala, steal their secret new dance move, the GUNDAM, from the Heliopolis disco, destroying the dance floor in the process. Kira, who managed to save his funky fresh Strike-A-Pose Gundam moves, is recruited into the Feddies's newest dance team, the Archangels, led by Murrue "Motown" Ramius. But first, Kira must learn to groove funky style with the help of Mu La "Phat" Flaga. Together they must put an end to Patrico Zala', who seeks to destroy the "Natural" dancers and leave only the augmented "Funkinators". But what's ahead for Kira on his funktastic journey through seedy disco clubs and cocaine highs?
